The Promised Savior
To know more about the last Savior in Islam

In these series of articles we focus on verses that are intended to say something about Imam Mahdi who is the Last Savior.

>God in surah Nisaa’, verse 69 says, “And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger, he [on the Day of Resurrection] shall stand by those upon whom Allah has perfectly bestowed His grace; such as the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs and the righteous; and how excellent are these companions.”

Zoraarah the famous companion of Imam Baaqir (the Shiite fifth Imam) narrates from him who have said,

"The Messenger refers to the Messenger of God, the truthful, refers to Ali, the martyrs points to Hassan and Hussein and the righteous are the Imams, and how excellent are these companions refers to the Upriser (Imam Mahdi) who is one of household of the Prophet.[1]

Here we need to add that this narration points to the best examples of this verse. This is why some of the plural words in the verse are just interpreted to one individual; however, the meaning of the verse is general and is not restricted to the mentioned examples.

This verse with the mentioned narration contains some considerable points:

1- The rewards in the hereafter are for those things people have practiced in their life: People in the next world will see the result of what they did and believed during their life in the earth. As a result, just those who really followed the Prophet and his household will be with them in the next world. In the hereafter, the reality of what people’s soul achieved will take the bodily form. Consequently, if one during the time of Occultation tries to connect himself to his Imam, even if he does not see his Imam, he will be with him in the hereafter.

2- All the Imams and the Prophet are from a same source: God in the verse at hand states that whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger he in the hereafter will be with the Prophet, Ali and the following Imams. It tells us that God, the Prophet and the Imams of his household are not separated and if one obeys God it means to be with these holy individuals. As a result to obey the guidelines of the Imams means to obey God and to be spiritually with them means to become spiritually connected to God. As a result, during the time of Occultation, those who are in love of God and the Prophet, they should follow the orders of their Imam meaning to refer to his representatives.
